Recently Tony Hotko and Kevin Bass of Sterling Engineering were asked to speak with members of the St. Raphael Career Transition Networking Group. Their expertise in the employment and staffing industry and working with companies to fill Engineering and IT roles, provided the insight and guidance the group was looking for. Their views on being flexible and keeping options open to contract and contract-to-hire positions was intriguing to the group. Other questions from the group related to: getting yourself in front of a hiring manager, how to tailor your resume for a job posting, and how recruiters choose candidates to screen further.
The purpose of the St. Raphael Career Transition Networking Group is to encourage networking as an effective tool in the job search, provide insights into effective networking and establish a network of contacts as a “jumping off” point for a networking campaign.
The group meets on the fourth Saturday of each month. Meetings begin at 9 a.m. with a guest speaker followed by small group-structured networking from 10 a.m. – Noon.
