Sterling Engineering sponsored and attended the TEDx Event held April 29, 2012 at the University of Chicago. TEDxUChicago is a local, independently organized, event at The University of Chicago that strives to re-create the unique experience found at TED, where the world´s leaders, thinkers and doers congregate to share what they are most passionate about. At its core, the fundamental goal of TED and The University of Chicago is to foster and spear great ideas. They aim to provide a platform where the smartest thinkers, greatest visionaries, and most fascinating teachers will be inspired and will have the opportunity to inspire others.
The theme of this year’s TED event was “Revolutions” and featured 15 speakers such as: Gary Erickson, CEO of Clif Bar; Catherine Roe, Head of Consumer Packaged Goods at Google; Karim Nader, Neuroscientist whose work inspired the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”; and Aubrey de Grey, Biomedical Gerontologist studying ways to combat the effects of aging. It was a remarkable day that highlighted the benefits of different disciplines working collaboratively to reach common goals. It also emphasized that everyone can and should learn to code (program computers) to achieve solutions to basic challenges in everyday life.
Dolores Connolly, Dan Casey, Marian Brady, Todd Dumbroski, Susan Populorum, Jamie Grenke, Priya Bhatnagar and Lathia Davison represented Sterling Engineering at this event.
