Eli’s Cheesecake Sweetens the Pot for Casa Central’s Holiday Dinner, La Posada Interim Housing Program for Homeless Families
On Friday, December 14, 2012, La Posada hosted a holiday dinner for families in need. Trini Hernandez, a long time Sterling Engineering employee, has been volunteering with Casa Central for years on his own. This year one of Sterling’s clients, Eli’s Cheesecake, helped sponsor the event by donating desserts for the families to eat.

Casa Central is an anchor in the Chicago community but relies on support to restore hope to over 20,000 individuals each year. Every day, children and youth come to Casa Central seeking constructive activities during after-school hours. Their services and care for seniors address their changing needs in a nurturing, bilingual environment. They also provide homeless families with comprehensive, supportive services that equip them with skills to succeed and become self-sufficient in just a few months.

Giving Thanks by Giving Back
Sterling Engineering employees started the holiday season by donating their time to a local charitable organization. Saturday, November 17, 2012 Zahra Sandberg, Susan Populorum, Tony Hotko, Dave Reisig, and Jamie Grenke packaged food products at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, IL. In two hours approximately 100 volunteers helped create 120 boxes of nutritious meals consisting of rice, soy, dried vegetables, and chicken powder fortified with vitamins and minerals. Those 25,920 meals will feed 71 children worldwide for a year.

Feed My Starving Children is an organization committed to “Feeding God’s Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit.” Since its founding in 1987, FMSC has given hope to millions of the world’s hungry. For more information please visit their website.
