On Wednesday, September 17th, Sterling attended the 28th Annual Entrepreneurial Women’s Conference, hosted by the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC). Speakers included host Allison Rosati of NBC 5 News, WBDC President & CEO Emilia DiMenco, Sr. Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer at Allstate Cheryl Harris, CEO and Founder of KellyMitchell Group Cassandra Sanford. The keynote speaker of the conference was Judy Smith, founder and President of Smith & Company, a leading strategic and crisis communications firm with offices in Washington DC and Los Angeles, as well as the inspiration for the ABC Drama Scandal.
It was great to see the growth and success of so many women owned businesses in the Chicago area and the influence the WBDC has had in these companies’ success. It was an inspiring and inclusive event where aspiring business owners could gain exponential knowledge about the opportunities, funding, and mentorship that is available to set their companies on the right track from day one in order to meet their strategic business goals.
Sterling CEO Dolores Connolly had this to say about Sterling’s status as a Certified Woman Owned Business, “We are very optimistic about the opportunities that present for Sterling Engineering in helping clients achieve their diversity objectives given our national WBE certification through the WBENC council. Many of the food, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing companies represented at the event expressed a strong desire to partner with us given our proven capabilities in high speed production and packaging equipment design and integration through process improvements, facility layout improvements, CAD documentation and Technical Writing support services.
Our 45 years of experience along with our proven reputation makes us an excellent partner of choice whether you are a Fortune 500 or a mid-sized manufacturing company. While we recognize that certain doors may open for us, we also appreciate that ultimately it all comes down to our ability to deliver a quality service that will determine our success – we very much welcome that opportunity”
It was a privilege for Sterling to attend this event and we are excited to work with the WBDC in the future. They are an essential and committed organization for the growth and success of women entrepreneurs in the Chicago area.
