As summer speeds to a close and another school year starts It’s time to say goodbye to our Sterling 2015 summer interns. Sam Crnkovich and Alex Galik have been with us for the past three months gaining some hands-on experience in the corporate world.
For Sam, a business major at University of St Louis MO, this was his second year working at Sterling. “I really enjoyed working here last year was excited to be invited back and assigned to work with a Recruiting team. I enjoy the challenge of sourcing resumes online and in the company’s database and also making update calls to past employees. Working directly with Team Lead Jane Robinson was a great opportunity to hone my sourcing and communication skills and gain an understanding the key requirements of positions. This internship has really helped me understand the hiring process, how to prioritize tasks and work efficiently on a busy desk. These are key skills I’ll take with me.”
Alex worked with a sales team researching online and updating files in the system. “I learned a lot from my mentor and manager Mark Howard, assisting him with client and industry research. Observing trends in manufacturing and engineering in general was fascinating. I also got an opportunity to use LinkedIn and other online job boards so it was a great lesson on how to present your background and skills to the best advantage. I’m sure this will be very helpful in a few years when I’m in the job market.” Alex is very adept at juggling tasks and priorities, he returns to Judson University for his sophomore year where he also plays multiple positions on the baseball team, Pitcher, Catcher, Outfield and 2nd Base -go Alex!
Here at Sterling we will miss Alex and Sam’s smiling faces and their willingness to jump in on tasks wherever needed. We wish them well as they return to their academic life. Keep in touch guys!
